With only 2 weeks until students arrive on campus we couldn’t be more excited! And while we’re still in the midst of support raising so that we can be on campus, we’re excited to share what the Lord has already started to do here in Milwaukee!
Most of you know how the Lord provided us a house to rent and two international students to live with. And if you don’t know the story, we’d love to share it with you! But that was just the beginning: within an hour of being in Milwaukee, we met our first student! A couple local churches came and brought people to help us move in, one of them being an incoming Freshman who was excited to hear what we’re doing and wanting to join us. Since then we’ve had other contacts with students that can only be described as God given. We’re excited to share more as the semester starts.
Most recently, we had a friend approach us with a new opportunity that can only be described as God-given. Someone approached him, looking for a place to host an event for international students. He contacted us and we of course said yes! So this Saturday, international students new to UW-Milwaukee and new to this country will get together and tour the city for the first time. And the end of the night, they will split up and go to different host homes for a home cooked meal. We have the opportunity to host and feed 12-16 new international students in our home for the night! Students who are new to campus and most of whom don’t know the Lord. We’re incredibly thankful for this opportunity and praying that the Lord uses as a platform to do his work.
Most of you know that we are not allowed on campus until we’re fully funded. Because of this our focus as been on raising the last of our funds. But we have been incredibly blessed and humbled to see that as we put our efforts into raising our funds, the Lord has been building up our ministry! It’s a constant reminder of HIS faithfulness, a confirmation that THIS is where we’re supposed to be, and a reminder that HE is the one who will build this ministry. We’re challenged on a daily basis to put our trust in him, and let him use us, our house, and our ministry as HE wants. After all, isn’t he so much better at this than we are?
Isaiah 42:5-9
“5 This is what God the Lord says—
the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out,
who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it,
who gives breath to its people,
and life to those who walk on it:
6 “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness;
I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you
to be a covenant for the people
and a light for the Gentiles,
7 to open eyes that are blind,
to free captives from prison
and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.
8 “I am the Lord; that is my name!
I will not yield my glory to another
or my praise to idols.
9 See, the former things have taken place,
and new things I declare;
before they spring into being
I announce them to you.”
